I had a dream the night my leg was amputated. You know one of those surreal dreams which make you feel that you are living in it. The dream was that I was dancing in a bollywood film. I woke up in cold sweat and looked around. I was alone in the hospital room and asked god why this is happening to me when I was only 10 years old. I sat up, looked for my mom and dad but I couldn’t find them. I went back to bed in pain and in tears asking God how will I ever live with one leg. I think it took me almost 30 years to learn the lesson that whatever happens in this world there is a divine reason behind it. I am not so sure if I had been a “normal” guy I would have pursued dancing with so much of passion and conviction. I think it made me even more fierce and fearless that I have nothing to lose except go up.

My student come to me not knowing my story they come to me because they want to be part of Satrangi. But in the end I want to watch them grow in to positive and creative individual. Being part of Satrangi I have seen my kids learn and inculcate the value of life. I am proud that although back in 1988 I lost one leg, I have so many kids who have become my feet. It’s true “God takes away one thing…….he gives you more in return”…. You just have to have faith in him and follow the divine plan.

I always tell my student, “Be a good human being and be humble as that is what will take you through challenges in life”. With this driving force we created DANCE WITH WINGS back in 2011.

DANCE WITH WINGS, provide free dance lesson to all special need kids in NJ. Our dream is to have such centers all over USA where these special kids can come and express their love for dance. We want them to be able to express their happiness, exuberance, joy and energy via dance. We started this institution 4 years ago and now we have group of 15 kids who come weekly and learn dance from us.

I am so proud of my volunteers and raj who meet every week and teach these kids dance. When I sit in my office and watch them dance I say to myself…. “Yep god has a plan…today we feel honored and blessed that Satrangi is a place where these kids can come and dance with us”.

Dance with Wings didn’t start four years back, it started back in 1988 when I lost my leg to cancer and I had a dream to be on stage. That feeling and that urge to be a dancer is now being taken forward by so many kids who want to learn dance and perform on stage.

Hope you al enjoy the Dance with wings performance. These kids are like angels that have been sent on this earth to show us what pure love is all about.

A special thanks to all Dance with Wings parents who have trusted us and are sending these kids to our academy to learn dance. If you know of any child who would benefit from this service please spread the word. Again we offer the classes free of cost for all kids in the Dance with Wings category.
